Widener Alumna and Educator Leading National Association for Continuing Higher Education

Dr. Tish Szymurski, a 1992 graduate of Widener’s Master of Education program in Adult Education, recently began serving as president of a national association devoted to furthering continuing higher education efforts.   Szymurski, dean of Continuing Adult and Professional Studies at Neumann University, was elected president of the Association for Continuing Higher Education (ACHE) in 2008 and was recently inducted to lead the 1,550 member association  representing more than 200 institutions.

Prior to joining Neumann in 1992, she worked for Penn State, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation education.  In addition to her degree from Widener, she graduated from the University of Delaware in Educational Leadership: Administration and Policy.  In 2009 Szymurski won the Outstanding Alumni Award from Penn State for outstanding contributions to higher education and commitment to community, and a 2008 Ryland Fellowship with EDUCAUSE.   She has experience in various aspects of adult and executive education at the University of Delaware, the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and Drexel University.
