Widener English Professors Launch New Album

November 19, 2012

Who said nothing good ever comes out of writer’s block? You Must Contribute, Brain! — the title of a new album by Milton and the Devils Party, an indie rock band featuring Widener English professors Daniel Robinson and Mark Graybill — derives from a 1797 Robert Southey poem about the condition that has plagued writers for centuries.

Some of the songs on the band’s new album due out later this month, and on their previous two albums, have roots in poetry from the 1800s and beyond. “To Jane,” from the first album What Is All This Sweet Work Worth?, is a song inspired by a Percy Shelley poem.

Milton and the Devils Party will be playing at 9 p.m. Saturday, November 24, at Philadelphia’s North Star Bar to celebrate the band’s 10-year anniversary. Additional information can be found on either the band’s Facebook page or on their website. Tickets are $10, and you must be 21 or older to attend.
