Recent Widener graduate Kate Dellinger ’13 – a standout on the women’s basketball team who wrote a feature article and was on the cover of this magazine two years ago – has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer Women’s Athletics Performer of the Year.
Dellinger, a native of Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, is the first Widener student-athlete to win the award. In one of the most impressive careers in school history, she led the team to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals in her final season. She finished sixth in school history in scoring with 1,255 career points and fourth with 759 rebounds. An outstanding student who earned a degree in psychology and is now studying in Widener’ doctor of physical therapy program, she also was one of 13 student-athletes named to the Inquirer’s 2012-2013 Academic Honor Roll.
